Vonage Forwarding Outage starting @9pm Oct 26th, 2010

Starting 9pm PST today(Oct 26th, 2010) Vonage Call forwarding has been down.

Description of outage:

What ever was the last number setup in forwarding at around 9pm on Oct26th, 2010 - is stuck. Even though website accepts change, its not effective.

Please wait until Vonage resolves this issue.

Symptoms until issue is resolved: All your calls will either go to home vonage or to the last number called at or before 9pm.

We will update the blog when the issue is resolved by Vonage.

Outage starting at 5pm, Oct 2010 - Problem & Solution

We appreciate your patronage. Starting 5pm PST today(Oct 13th, 2010) CallsUnLtd has been down. Please see the details of outage and solution below.

Description of outage:

Vonage website posted a maintenance notice (that it will be performing a maintenance tonite).

CallsUnLtd has a extra security check - whenever it sees a maintenance notice from Vonage, it will give an error(the error that you are seeing).

We realize this is an unnecessary extra precaution that we took. We have already posted an update which removes this unnecessary precautionary check.

Executive summary:

1) The problem will go away once Vonage website removes a maintenance notice on their website. Please try again tomorrow morning.

2) Update posted to Appstore. Once available, please install it - and you will not face downtime due to a extra precautionary check

3) Android users - please update the app for immediate fix(Version 1.9.1)

We apologize for inconvenience caused. We will update you as soon as Vonage takes away the maintenance notice and also when the update is available.

Once you locate the app in search results, click to view details of the app. At the top, you will see a "buy" button. Click to buy. Enter your appstore username/password, if prompted. It will then install the app.

Step 2. Basic Settings

First time you open the app, it automatically goes to the Settings tab. You need a vonage username, password and phone number.

a) Enter vonage username, password and phone number.

b) Don't change any other settings

c) Click on "Test and Save Settings"

App will verify the settings by logging into your vonage account. Wait until the progress indicator(spinning wheel) stops.

Step 3. Make a call

a) Click on keypad tab

c) It is important that you use "011" and country code, before phone number. Example: 011919247812345

Issue with iOS4

Dear Users
If you have upgraded to iOS4, automatic disable Call forwarding will not kick in after the call connects. We are working on a fix and it should be out shortly. Please use the workaround of relaunching the app and click on disable CF at the bottom right corner. This can be done while you are still on the call.

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS AND EXPLAINATION OF FEATURES

In the settings tab of the app.
USERNAME: "Enter vonage username"
PASSWORD: "Enter vonage password"
VONAGE PHONE NUMBER: "Enter your home vonage phone number"
On Disable Forward to: "Default is None. If you use default call forwarding( forward the calls coming to your home phone to be forwarded to your cell phone) enter your cell phone number here.Otherwise leave it to NONE.

AUTOMATIC CALL FORWARDING DISABLE AFTER A CALL: "Default is on. This will disable the call forwarding automatically once you place a call using the app so that if someone calls at your home phone those calls are NOT forwarded to the last dialed number using the app.
TURBOMODE: "Default is off. Leave it to on if you see the app taking longer time to connect.

DELAY BEFORE CALL: " This is an adjustable scroll bar".You can see the timer values in
iphone---->Settings------->Callsunltd---------->Delay before call: It is recommend to select 30 or above,to avoid home phone ringing.

Connectivity issues starting 05/09/2010

There has been some recent changes from vonage which is causing connectivity issues as a result your call will always end up ringing your home phone. We are aware of the problem and working on providing a fix.We will release a fix shortly.
You can try setting Auto Call forwarding disable after a Call to OFF and see if that helps in the mean while.

2- At least home vonage number rings once and my wife picks it up and gets connected. Find some way that home vonage number should not ring at all.Otherwise it is good application, better than ivonage.

I like the app because of its convenience. I have one suggestion and it would be great if you can incorporate it. All my international numbers are in a global format using for example:
India would be +91 44 23455xxxx instead of 011 91 44 23455xxxx
I know that you did this in this way because Vonage expects you to dial 011 before dialing out. Is there a way that you can accept both formats and do the transformation in your code to put in the way Vonage likes so that we as users don't have to modify our address book?

Step 1: Initial configuration of the application
Click on settings and then click on callsunltd.
It will ask for your username,password and vonage phone number.You need to provide your vonage username and password here.Please remember this is a one time setting.

Once you have done this please open the app which will open your address book and you are good to go. Please make sure your numbers are stored in the right format, ex: Format for india number is 01191XXXXXXXXXX.

No this is not a trick to make 1 dollar.We intend to earn a dollar from each happy customer and if you are unhappy for any reason, we will be happy to address your issue.

I really like this app. This is very helpful in making calls simultaneously over the landline and using the iphone and also can make calls wherever you are using your iphone. But just want to know if there are any thoughts to include calling over WIFI and also adding the keypad option instead of making it to go to contacts directly. 2. Group International numbers or even group them like India, UK, Brazil?

If you happen to disconnect the call before its setup, it would be better if you use the reset vonage option.On the app when the address book opens, on the top right corner you will see a cancel button. If you click on it, you will see a screen prompting for reset vonage or make a call. If you can reset vonage this will certainly disable the call forwarding, if its left active in some race condition.
